Unsolved Murders
Author: Victoria Mason
2 out of 5 stars
In this short true crime book, the author gives a quick, 2-3 pages, look at 16 murders that were infamous in their time.
This was an interesting but quite short book that stuck to the barest facts for each case. Some are still well known, like Jack the Ripper and the Black Dahlia, but others aren’t as well known or discussed nowadays, with the most recent case being from 2004.
While the short length of each case is unfortunate, the true negative of this book is the writing. There was a lot of awkward phrasing. There were also mistakes like, ‘in the scene’ instead of ‘at the scene’. The word ‘the’ was included in places where it didn’t make sense.
Honestly, the only real positive of this book is that it introduced me to cases I had never heard of before, which is why I rated it 2 out of 5 stars. So someone just getting into truce crime might like this book since it would give them new cases to look into, especially since it is free.
